Serious accident on PIE involving a TP bike

A morning accident on 31 May along PIE resulted in a major traffic standstill. Not your typically accident as this involved a Traffic Police bike as well.

From the photos can't really deduce what happen but I suspect is that the Traffic Police might have been coming fast from the back trying to enforce something then suddenly the blue car might have just change into the Traffic Police lane without early signal hence causing the accident.

Swallowtail Moth Lyssa Zampa spotted around many places in Singapore

Lyssa Zampa, which is also known as the tropical swallowtail moth is a species of moth of the family Uraniidae. Monday seem to be the day where it suddendly burst in population!

Spotted about 3 in Bedok Camp during IPT session then when having dinner at Bedok Food Center also spotted another one. Was at first thinking it might have be the same one as from the camp as it could have just flown out since the camp and food center are just opposite each other. However when I back in Sengkang spotted another 2 more near my lift lobby... Confirm plus chop not the same two I spotted in Bedok Camp...

Man sacked after posting vulgar reply to PM's Facebook post

A Facebook user who posted vulgar abuse in response to Mother's Day wishes by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has been sacked from his job.

Kinda dumb if you ask me. Nowadays whatever we post on social media had to be careful... No one really care if it is your personal views or what as long as it is on social media it is available to the whole world to view and judge what you wrote. Luckily for this man he is only sacked from his job and nothing else...

CPF raise Minimum Sum, Medisave Minimum Sum and Medisave Contribution Ceiling

CPF will raise the CPF Minimum Sum, Medisave Minimum Sum and Medisave Contribution Ceiling from 1 July 2014 for a more secure retirement. The CPF minimum sum will be raised to S$155,000 from S$148,000, Medisave Minimum Sum will also be raised to S$43,500 from S$40,500, while the Medisave Contribution Ceiling will be increased to S$48,500 from S$45,500.

Many of us in Singapore will have our salary was deducted each month to put into our CPF's account which will be either be used to pay for our HDB flats or simply saved in hope that once we retire we will be able to live our retirement as how we plan to. However with the CPF minimum sum keep increasing, I really wonder if we will ever to get to see (not even use) our CPF money when we retire or worst when we KO...

Anyone can help answer what really is the purpose of having "Minimum Sum"?

5 youths arrested for Toa Payoh graffiti case

5 17-year old youths have been arrested by the police for Toa Payoh graffiti case.

Wow impress by the speed at which the Singapore Police investigate and arrested the youths... From the photos it does look like the 5 youths are recruits serving their NS...

Wonder what do they have against PAP... They are not impacted by raising housing cost since non can buy one yet, not paying any any taxes except GST, not voting...Don't tell me the issue they have against PAP is actually NS?

Graffiti spotted at the top of 22-storey high HDB block in Toa Payoh

Red graffiti targeted towards the People Action Party (PAP) was spotted at the top of a 22 storey high HDB block in Toa Payoh on 08 Mar, 2014 morning.

I am surprise someone could actually gain access to the rooftop especially since measures have been put in place since the case of a women body found in the water tank on rooftop. But this act was totally unnecessary and does not serve any purposes at all... Nothing is going to change just because of the graffiti and worst now the police are investigating the case and the guy who did it would be charge with vandalism...

Is it worth to go against the law and endanger one's future just to express the unhappiness toward PAP?

Toddler almost knock down not once but twice at Bedok North road

A toddler was almost knock down not once but twice at Bedok North road and the mother of the toddler was seen chasing the toddler  and finally caught up with him only near the bus stop.

The toddler was very lucky to be alive and all thanks to the alertness of the driver who not only stop in time but press his horn to warn the cab beside him of the toddler running across the road.

Parents please always hold on to your child when crossing the road. Being a parent of a 3 yrs old boy I never allow my boy to cross the road alone. Even crossing a zebra crossing I would have him wait for me to hold his hands and cross together. Hopefully the mother in the incident would learn from this and in future always hold on to the child hand.

So a total of 1.2 million kits will be distributed island wide and that is like 3.6 million N95 masks! Hopefully with this 'Stay Prepared' Starter Kits, the next time a haze hits Singapore, there will not be a last-minute scramble for masks...

Man speeding on the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) at 100kmh on the run

A 32-year-old was guilty of failing to stop for a police officer, dangerous driving, driving under disqualification and failing to render assistance after an accident jump bail.

A chiongster indeed, did a police chase along KPE at 110kmh, negotiated slip roads on the expressways at close to 150kmh and even clocking a top speed of 185khm. Reading the report really like watching a real live action movie. He drove against the traffic, ran a red light and crashed his car into a police motorcycle and a patrol car... Never thought this would really happen in Singapore.

Now he even jump bail... Really pity his wife...

S'pore magazine director and Taiwanese woman killed after Volkswagen crashes into tree on ECP

A fatal accident which resulted in a Singaporean man and a Taiwanese woman killed after the Volkswagen they were travelling in crashed into a tree on the East Coast Parkway on May 1.

What make me wonder is the number of people in the Volkswagen... It is suppose to be a performance car where the max capacity is 5 including the driver but in this accident there were actually 4 adults at the rear of the car (rather packed for the Volkswagen)...

From the video footage captured it seem that the car was travelling at a high speed so as to reach the exit... Personally I have been driving for quite a while and for me missing an exit is quite common due to poor GPS response or simply travelling on the far right lane. I usually will just take the next exit (sometime even the next next one) as I feel it is alot safer not only for me but my passengers as well as other road users. Not worth taking the risk if you ask me especially if there are so many passengers in the car.

Video footage of the last moments on SEWOL

A mobile phone video shot by 17-year-old Park Su-hyeon on board Sewol reveals the scene on the ferry as it started to list.

Just moments before this there students were all still enjoying themselves on their excursion trip to Jeju... A very tragic event indeed...

The Captain should be held full responsible for this. My understand is should any ship meet with similar accident, Captain (or the next highest ranking officer) should stay on board and coordinate the safe evacuation of the passengers. Only until the last passengers he can account for is safe only should he board the safety boat or rescue himself... Sadly this is not the case for SEWOL...

Container truck carrying ice overturns along Ubi road

A container truck containing ice had overturned at around 2pm (01 May 2014) at the junction of Ubi Road 1 and Ubi Avenue 2, no one was injured but packets of ice were spilled out on the ground.

An interesting way to "cool" the day... From the photo we can see some smaller ice trucks, why they are there I wonder if was to recover the ice??? From the looks of it at least 10% of the ice packs are not recoverable since already in contact with the road so maybe the remaining 90% can be safe? Hopefully they will inspect the recovered ice packs again just to ensure it is not contaminated especially if they were for consumption...

Herbal Health V+ was found to contain Tadalafil and Sildenafil as undeclared ingredients. Tadalafil and Sildenafil are used to treat erectile dysfunction!
